On Thursday, as it does each year, the leading business-to-business trade show in the South East heads to Brighton. More than 70 companies display their products and services to more than 800 visitors – suppliers, potential business partners, funders and students – in the impressive Amex Stadium.
No matter the reason, everyone who attends the Let’s Do Business Expo has chosen to invest precious time. Some may wonder why in the age of technology and the Internet live face-to-face business events even exist.
It’s extremely important for every business to stay on the cutting edge of innovation insight, ideas, products and techniquesPhilip JohnsonProgramme Director
People go to meet people they might want to do business with, to shake their hands, look in their eyes, and assess whether a company’s product or services meet their needs, and ultimately they go to connect with prospective customers. Perhaps most importantly, they go because relationships matter in business and, despite the global reach of the Internet, a relationship cannot only be digital. It must be personal.
This personal component to the Let’s Do Business Group Expo – or any tradeshow, for that matter – is an experience that requires human interaction and connection. Trade shows prosper still because people, relationships and first-hand impressions matter in developing trust, and evaluating people and products.
Indeed, every large or medium-sized company started as a micro business that needed to attract investors, partners and customers quickly and efficiently. Companies and careers have been made at trade shows.
This year’s theme is Innovation and there’s a brand-new Innovation Zone, sponsored by East Sussex College Group. The zone aims to inspire businesses from around the South East to learn about, see and experience the latest technologies and advancements in virtual reality, Artificial Intelligence and augmented reality. Showstorm, a leading VR and AR provider will be there alongside West End Studios demoing the latest technologies and talking about how businesses can improve their customer experience and sales using cutting-edge technologies.
Philip Johnson, Director of Locate East Sussex who is chairing a stellar line up of guest speakers on an Innovation panel, comments:
It’s extremely important for every business to stay on the cutting edge of innovation insight, ideas, products and techniques, and to know how to access funding to get their entrepreneurial ideas off the ground.
The ‘sold-out’ stands at this year’s Expo is a sign that the South East business-to-business exhibition industry is alive and well, and it offers companies a gateway to reaching their markets.
The power and purpose of trade shows in our rapidly connected world continues to have relevance. Far from being a relic of a bygone age, today’s trade shows remain the premier event to learn, interact and connect with people who can help you to grow your business. So get on a train. Go to the trade show. Meet new people and reconnect with those you already know. And have a bit of fun along the way.
