Emily's story

Emily from Hastings and a champion show-jumper started as an administrator at Locate East Sussex, but as her talents grew, she took on more opportunities and challenges within the business. Her training and ability to build strong rapports with business owners and her ability to analyse and provide on the right advice and support for businesses have allowed Emily to take on the role of Business Manager for Locate East Sussex. Her experience and skills she has learned on her apprenticeship have enabled her to help companies across East Sussex to grow their businesses.

The East Sussex Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony marks the first significant step to celebrate the achievements of people of all ages who have put in the work to become the very best in their specialisms. As well as winning the award, Emily also accepted her Level 3 Apprenticeship in Management.

I am glad to be recognised for my contribution to Locate East Sussex, and that my colleagues thought to nominate me for this award. To win it is just the icing on the cake!’

Apprenticeships in East Sussex

Apprenticeships make up a key part of the county’s workforce and future and there has never been a greater spotlight on apprenticeships and employers as training providers. Over 1,000 people complete apprenticeships each year, in every sector – from software engineers to care providers to construction workers.

Philip Johnson, Programme Director at Locate East Sussex said: ‘When we first had Emily on the team, we all saw the potential she had. This award proves that Emily is not only living up to that potential but exceeding it in all that she contributes’

About the event

The event was delivered by Sussex Council of Training Providers, who represent training organisations, delivering publicly funded work-based learning and pre-employment programmes.

Every employer or training provider in East Sussex supporting an apprentice was invited to nominate their apprentices based on their performance and contribution they make.
