Locate East Sussex continues to deliver local support to grow our local economy
Locate East Sussex continues to make a valuable contribution to the development of the East Sussex economy and has smashed its latest performance targets.
Results for Locate East Sussex for the three years ending in April 2020 show a period of solid achievement as the programme now adapts to additionally offer help to companies affected by the Coronavirus crisis.
On completion of its latest three-year programme at the end of April 2020, Locate East Sussex had attracted enquiries from over 1300 companies interested in growing their business in the county, some 120% more than specified. During the same period, the team had 1295 face to face meetings supporting companies, more than double the number specified. This resulted in tailored 12-hour packages of business support being delivered, at no cost, to 69 East Sussex companies, 28% beyond the specified requirement.
Over the three-year period, Locate East Sussex also worked with some 66 local companies that expanded into larger premises, 69% more than specified, while the team also engaged with an impressive 42 companies that moved into East Sussex.
Perhaps most importantly, during the three years of delivering focused business support, Locate East Sussex helped to create 470 new jobs in the county, surpassing the specified requirement by 74.
Jointly funded by the District, Borough and County Councils of East Sussex, with support from the EU’s Regional Development Fund, Locate East Sussex plays a vital role in delivering support to companies that are expanding into new premises and assisting companies that are moving into the county. Working closely with East Sussex County Council, Locate East Sussex is a key partner in the delivery of ‘East Sussex Invest’, the council’s highly effective funding programme that supports business growth.
During the three years ending April 2020 there were approximately 330 additional jobs created or retained by East Sussex companies as a result of this programme, which provides funding to support investment on capital expenditure for growing business.
