A brand new attraction in Bexhill that uses Virtual Reality technology to give visitors the chance to soar the skies along the Sussex coastline, exploring our beautiful county from a whole new perspective.
Situated within the stunning Bexhill Colonnade, built in 1911 to commemorate the coronation of George V, SOAR TOUR holds an enviable position with the Beachfront just metres away. Those taking a stroll along the seafront, or exploring Bexhill’s popular De La Warr Pavilion can now take their exploration further by experiencing this six-and-a-half minute Virtual Flight, combining virtual reality technology with robotics to produce a ‘flying’ experience (for all the family) showcasing highlights from along the beautiful south coast from Brighton to Rye.
Seeing sights such as Brighton Pier, Cuckmere Haven, Eastbourne Lighthouse, and Hastings Stade, you are immersed into the scenery, hearing the wildlife around you, and feeling the gentle movements as you fly along the coastline. Filmed by Sussex experts in aerial photography, Visual Air is combined with an awe-inspiring musical score, making the whole experience peaceful, relaxing and a visual treat.
Change in direction
SOAR TOUR is the brainchild of Alex Hedger and is the first attraction under his new brand ‘Popup Attractions Limited’. Originally a qualified Psychological Therapist, Alex started a chain of Health Clinics called Dynamic You. The group has locations spanning from Exeter to Birmingham, all doing well and Alex took the decision 3 years ago to expand his business empire but in a whole new direction.
He told us: 'I thought I’d do something at the complete other end of the scale to what I was used to'.
He started Popup Attractions Limited and began to put in place his plans for this whole new venture: “Finding premises for SOAR TOUR was initially a bit of a challenge” he tells us. “I wanted somewhere that would attract passing trade and be accessible for visitors to the area. When the opportunity came up for a spot in the Bexhill Colonnade, I thought it would be ideal”.
The Colonnade is already home to two bustling eateries, (The Colonnade and Hughies Beach Café) and several independent gift shops, and this new addition is bound to draw even more visitors to the area. Alex is confident that SOAR TOUR will become a destination of its own, saying “SOAR TOUR is the only thing like this, possibly in the world at the moment.'
Bexhill is the natural place to launch SOAR TOUR. From iconic beaches to a landscape full of history, SOAR TOUR is different because it uses the new and latest technology to open up a different perspective compared to other attractions across the South East, showcasing the place we call home.
With several new plans already in the pipeline, we will certainly be hearing more of Alex and Popup Attractions. Two new projects are currently in development including a museum tour guide app, and an exciting ‘Oddity Museum’.
Alex said: “Our aim is to open a British oddity museum taking our inspiration from the American brand ‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not’ and making it our own. Currently, Popup Attractions owns over 200 unique and unbelievable artifacts ranging from a Victorian pickled human brain to astronauts’ gloves that have been flown in space – and much more! I think this type of attraction would do really well, people love to see strange and wonderful things!”
Already receiving a great deal of interest in the area, SOAR TOUR at time of writing already has 60 Five Star reviews on TripAdvisor in just three weeks.
To try out SOAR TOUR for yourself, flights are available between 10am and 5pm daily during the summer, from £8.95 per person. Tickets can be purchased on the door or can be pre-booked online via with a 10% saving. There is also an additional ticket option for £12.95 which includes a Pilot Licence photo experience.
